What day of the week is Someday?

Always hear folks talk about it. Some day I’ll do  (blank).  Some day when I have time I’ll organize my house. Some day I will put all my photos in albums. Some day I will write that novel.  I’ve looked on several calendars and I have never seen some day listed. So I guess I am just going to set aside a day for this ‘some day’ to be.

November marks 30 days of SOME DAYS set aside for that novel writing.  Do I have a novel in me? What a novel idea?!  We all have stories in us, no matter what if someone reads it or not I should write it. I mean really, I do this blog and I know no one ever looks at it. Nor does anyone ever click on the ads.  Don’t have do a thing but click, and ‘some day’ when I reach enough clicks I could get paid thanks to Google AdSense. But I still sit here and I write. Sometimes I’m just sharing videos that I found interesting. Yeah I know, most folks can’t be bothered to take the time out of their day to watch another video, I mean that could mean an entire five minutes you will never get back. (We all know how much time we spend on the computer so who is kidding who. Not me, LOL)  Other entries are just me shooting the stuff.  If I said a dirty word, then I might have ads for septic systems and I don’t find that too appealing.

I’ve done nanowrimo a few years now. Lately though I have been demoralized and not bothered. I just feel that why bother, my writing isn’t any good. But I guess how can I get good at writing. Certainly not just by thinking about wanting to write. A person gets better with practice. First time I ever drew something, it was pretty awful, but when you have a toddler that wants to color a horse, I got good at drawing them.  When the toddler got tired of my rudimentary scribbles, the pencil was picked up and the drawing began. Yes, frustrated they didn’t look like moms, so mom would draw a few more. But eventually (and in a VERY short time) the pictures were better than moms. How did they get better? Practice. Drawing over and over.  Sometimes its not a matter of just having natural abilities, though it doesn’t hurt to have it, but it is about just doing it. Picking that some day – making it a frequent thing on your calendar and do it.

So I have been writing a lot more lately on my blog this month. Partly because I would like to make this something worth while to read. Who goes to a blog that is never updated with new information? A blog gets attention when stuff appears on it every now and then. More frequently there are updates, then more frequently folks will stop by to read. So this is practice. I’m writing more. I want to get better with my writing abilities. Although I don’t think that I have great talent, I do have the ability that I need to tone, and hone. Then that will be applied into other areas that the typed word is used. No longer is the word written. Well, maybe in my personal journal, that’s still written but that’s a whole other blog entry to talk about why on earth do I still hand write when typing is so much faster, and when I’m a gadget gal all the way through.

Wish I had a nanowrimo buddy to write with this November. We could encourage us to keep up our word count. To reach 50,000 words for the month of November, one would need to write 1667 words daily. There are only 30 days in November. So far this blog is at 653 words.  So I would have to get in another 1000 words to get close to reaching the daily goal. Yes, I’m going to need to spend a lot of time writing. That’s alright. I want to make my some day happen for me.  I want to get that story out.

What are you waiting for?  What are you putting off for Some day?   Make that some day happen, NOW.  And if you want to join me on nanowrimo.org comment and let me know, and we can make November our Some Day.

Sleep how we take thee for granted

We live in a hectic world. We are so constantly on the go, we steal time from sleep just so we can get more done.  Well, here we go, a siesta contest. Folks got 20 minutes to take a nap. Some did not fall asleep. But one guy managed to sleep for 17 minutes.  Not only falling asleep in 3 minutes, but he was also recorded snoring at 70 decibels.  My mother snored all the time, wonder what her level would be at.

But a couple of Americans read about the contest online and showed up to win second and third place. (Read the article here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39816469/ns/world_news-weird_news/ )

I have read many articles about sleep. Probably because I lack in good quality sleep all the time. Such is life. However, to increase mental sharpness or acuity a person would benefit from a 20 minute nap. Anything longer and you risk waking up more tired than when you fell asleep.  But who has 20 minutes to stop mid day and take a nap. I’m thinking that maybe I should schedule that time in a couple times a week. Laundry can wait can it not?  Yes, it can.

From The Darkness

This week I watched as the 6th miner was pulled out of the mine in Chile. The rescue started on their 69th day of darkness. However by the point I started watching was already on day 70.

I sit here and think about the thoughts that must of gone through the minds of these men. They lived 17 days in darkness. Yes, 17 days in their own personal tomb. They had no idea if they would be found. I would imagine some of them would have to make peace with the idea they could die right then and there. I do not know what they had with them in this cave under ground. Might have had some light, but I’m sure it was limited. I know they were starving when they were first found. Lost and then found – Amazing Grace that is.

To live in that darkness, to be with 32 other folks, and yet be so alone. There are 33 men total, but you don’t usually count yourself do you? Though the ordeal was just 70 days, I do know that the images, emotions will last with them a life time.

I have darkness in my life, that I’m reminded of constantly. There was some light leading up to my darkness, but I did not see it. Not until I was put into complete darkness did I finally learn to see, and seek the light. I went through the darkness turning my head towards HIM, the Light. I had nothing else. But He never left me, He was there shining His light into my life for such a long time, but I would not look upon it. Then when He really got my attention, I learned. That darkness was necessary in my life. I had to go through it. If I had not, then I would not of ever really learned to Trust in Him. To Love Him. Hard to say but that darkness in my life was a blessing. Although I am "haunted” often by those events. Sometimes completely caught off guard by them, I know that I will survive any trial for He is with me always. Pulled me from Darkness and into the Light.

Dismissed

Sometimes one can feel like a failure. Not living up to the expectations you have for yourself, or the expectations others might have placed for you.  Thing is, there is one good advice my mother gave to me (they are few and far between) but that was just to give it your best.  Although sometimes your best might not be good enough, you still got to try.  Alright, I do see that Yoda would disagree with me.  “Do or do not there is no try.”  Or either Poop or get off the pot.  All things to keep in mind.

Anyhow someone posted this on facebook, its a good motivational video that I think it is worth a moment of your time to take a look at it.  These were things I didn’t know.  Standing amongst some great people, they to had their lower moments.  Here check it out:

Rihanna – only girl cover

I was looking for Rihanna’s video Only Girl well, her official VEVO channel only has a photo slide show and the song skips around. Well here is a cover of the song. Great use of AutoTune, but hey not too bad.  Well sharing my brief thoughts anyhow.

Tell me what you think – you have favorite song covers you found on youtube?

Glee Cast - I Want To Hold Your Hand (Glee Cast Version)

Glee - Grillede Cheesus episode

Kurt's father had a heart attack and his faith comes out. Basically he doesn't believe there is a God. He is angry because the church typically doesn't like him, and feels just out there so all alone. His mother died when he was a child and while lowering her into the ground, he wanted his father to say something. Instead he just reached out and held his hand.

When this was playing, tears came to my eyes. Sometimes we just don't know where to turn, or what to do. We might be unable to give the words that would bring comfort. But we can reach up for a hand to hold. God will always be there to hold our hands if that is all we can or do offer to him. He desires so much more with us, will carry us if we need him to. But I like the idea that if we are shaky, he can just hold our hand though the difficult time. He stands there with out stretched arms ready to embrace us. but I think that if you can't do that, then hold his hand. Scripture says the faith the size of a mustard seed, and you can move mountains.

Finn had sang the REM song Loosing my Reglion - the rendition was good and certainly can understand his feelings.

Then the group all did "what if God was one of us?"

Silly I know how a show can be touching. But it's music that speaks to the soul, now let me go grab a tissue.

Thought this was rather funny. I know many times on my iPod touch I’m hitting the wrong key because of the touch screen.

So thanks to hulu – I can share this giggle.

Why is my iPod touch battery keeps dying?

--------------------------------------

Apple - iPod touch - Voice Memos, Calendar, Folders, and more

Multitasking is available only on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the new iPod touch, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009). Multitasking is available with apps that have been developed to work with iOS 4.

Apple - iPod touch - Voice Memos, Calendar, Folders, and more

--------------------------------------

I thought my iPod touch was dying. Haven’t had the thing that long, and for the money I have spent on this gadget it should last me a lot longer than what it had been.

To get technical support I had to go to an Apple Store.  (ew)  Went in there orginally, and I had to make an appointment to come back for assistance.  REALLY? Well, at least there is a store, I know MS doesn’t have one. Oh wait, there are computer stores EVERY freaking where. LOL

Leaving the Apple store, just felt a bit dirty. Like I was cheating or something.  Or I just voted across party lines, and I knew it was just so wrong!  (I kid, hope you catch that) So went back at the scheduled appointment time.

Very interesting how Apple is big brother.  You thought information was collected on you, oh really you have NO clue. It’s bad enough that ALL applications I put on my iPod have to go through iTunes, but everything has to go through the almighty gate keeper.  Discussed what I noticed what was going wrong with my iPod. At least stuff I figure they should be responsible for. (Oh don’t even get me started on the pain in the ass process I dealt with trying to get my iPod to wi-fi connect with my PC – it should be simple, but its too dang simple that they just won’t do it)  The tech plugged in my iPod to  a (MAC – oh poor thing, I know its familiar but your a member of the PC family) and from there the guy could tell all the stuff I have been doing> How much I've bee playing on We Rule.  And then it shoes how much my iPod is left on (guess its the total time it was actually on) versus the total time the iPod was in standby mode until it reached 16 percent.

Guess according to him, I’m getting good life out of my battery. if it was bad, they would have an unhappy face and it would say REPLACE.  Oh, ok, I don’t know about the frowny face, but he did tell me it would say replace and this time it did not.

Ok, why the link above -  The reason being, I wanted to let you know what brought me into their store in the first place.

Multitasking is available only on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the new iPod touch, and the third-generation iPod touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009). Multitasking is available with apps that have been developed to work with iOS 4.

There was a firmware update on my iPod from 3x to now its 4x.  Oh suppose to be oh, so spiffy. Brings together the ability to multi-task between different operations so you can flip from here to there.  You tap the home screen twice and it brings up your running apps.  I thought it was bringing up your last 4 recently used programs. Thought that was a rather handy dandy feature.  Well, I was corrected today.

Every single program you have opened, tapped on but didn’t load, looked at in any way shape or form is put into the back ground.  This multi-task home screen was running just about everything I touched on this iPod since the software update to 4x. This is one thing I did not know at all. Even my iBooks was acting up, well guess after 40 applications (not sure if exactly that many but its most of them that is installed on my iPod)  The guy showed me how to go into the multitask screen (it isn’t just the most recently used screen) then hold down on the of the apps for 2 seconds before the (red –) comes up. Click on the red – and that will close, and remove it from the multi-task menu.

After doing this today, my battery has run all day long, ( a lot of the time in stand by mode)  and still barely a bump missing on the battery indicator.

So just thought I’d share my tidbit – if your ipod is running slow, or battery drain, check to see how much your running in the background. You just might be surprised.
