What day of the week is Someday?

Always hear folks talk about it. Some day I’ll do  (blank).  Some day when I have time I’ll organize my house. Some day I will put all my photos in albums. Some day I will write that novel.  I’ve looked on several calendars and I have never seen some day listed. So I guess I am just going to set aside a day for this ‘some day’ to be.

November marks 30 days of SOME DAYS set aside for that novel writing.  Do I have a novel in me? What a novel idea?!  We all have stories in us, no matter what if someone reads it or not I should write it. I mean really, I do this blog and I know no one ever looks at it. Nor does anyone ever click on the ads.  Don’t have do a thing but click, and ‘some day’ when I reach enough clicks I could get paid thanks to Google AdSense. But I still sit here and I write. Sometimes I’m just sharing videos that I found interesting. Yeah I know, most folks can’t be bothered to take the time out of their day to watch another video, I mean that could mean an entire five minutes you will never get back. (We all know how much time we spend on the computer so who is kidding who. Not me, LOL)  Other entries are just me shooting the stuff.  If I said a dirty word, then I might have ads for septic systems and I don’t find that too appealing.

I’ve done nanowrimo a few years now. Lately though I have been demoralized and not bothered. I just feel that why bother, my writing isn’t any good. But I guess how can I get good at writing. Certainly not just by thinking about wanting to write. A person gets better with practice. First time I ever drew something, it was pretty awful, but when you have a toddler that wants to color a horse, I got good at drawing them.  When the toddler got tired of my rudimentary scribbles, the pencil was picked up and the drawing began. Yes, frustrated they didn’t look like moms, so mom would draw a few more. But eventually (and in a VERY short time) the pictures were better than moms. How did they get better? Practice. Drawing over and over.  Sometimes its not a matter of just having natural abilities, though it doesn’t hurt to have it, but it is about just doing it. Picking that some day – making it a frequent thing on your calendar and do it.

So I have been writing a lot more lately on my blog this month. Partly because I would like to make this something worth while to read. Who goes to a blog that is never updated with new information? A blog gets attention when stuff appears on it every now and then. More frequently there are updates, then more frequently folks will stop by to read. So this is practice. I’m writing more. I want to get better with my writing abilities. Although I don’t think that I have great talent, I do have the ability that I need to tone, and hone. Then that will be applied into other areas that the typed word is used. No longer is the word written. Well, maybe in my personal journal, that’s still written but that’s a whole other blog entry to talk about why on earth do I still hand write when typing is so much faster, and when I’m a gadget gal all the way through.

Wish I had a nanowrimo buddy to write with this November. We could encourage us to keep up our word count. To reach 50,000 words for the month of November, one would need to write 1667 words daily. There are only 30 days in November. So far this blog is at 653 words.  So I would have to get in another 1000 words to get close to reaching the daily goal. Yes, I’m going to need to spend a lot of time writing. That’s alright. I want to make my some day happen for me.  I want to get that story out.

What are you waiting for?  What are you putting off for Some day?   Make that some day happen, NOW.  And if you want to join me on nanowrimo.org comment and let me know, and we can make November our Some Day.
